- Early Norman Families in Virginia
-
- Thomas and his four sons in Stafford and Prince
William County, Virginia
- Isaac in Culpeper County, Virginia
- Clement in Fauquier County, Virginia
- George Norman in Loudoun County, Virginia
The Normans first appeared in Virginia in the 1640s.
There appear to be at least four families that came to America at that
time: Thomas, and perhaps his father, Henry, who were in Lancaster
County as early as 1647; Isaac, who appeared in Orange and Spotsylvania
Counties in the 1700s, but was born about 1682, perhaps in Virginia;
Clement is believed to have come to Virginia from New England about
1730; and George was probably born in Maryland.
We have been unable to connect these early families
to the Normans who proliferated in Virginia during the 1700s and spread
to the Carolinas and Tennessee. In this study, we hope to sort these
Norman families and organize them into different family lines.
